Hi Friend,
This was a bit of a different week. I officed out of Minneapolis. I had a few in-person meetings and an investment I’m considering. I decided to spend the week there. It was literally 30 degrees cooler than Oklahoma too, which was incredibly nice. There are almost as many running trails as lakes. I wouldn’t want to be there in the winter, but this week was beautiful!
As someone who #WorksFromHome the idea of making a travel investment to work from another location is appealing. The label is truly #WorkFromAnywhere. Having relationships in many cities and more people I’d like to meet, I’m contemplating what this could look like.
I also did something I’ve never done before which is rent an AibBnb “room”. It was in the basement of a home, that the people were still there. It was kind of trippy and an adventure all its own. I highly recommend it. It generates so many unexpected thoughts, that it makes me laugh.
Another first is that I enlisted a business coach, while there. We met for breakfast at the Original Pancake House. I had the most deliciously thin pancakes – a mix of crepe and cake that exploded in my mouth. I’ll go back to MSP just to experience that again! The gentleman I’ve hired is insightful, experienced, and smart. This breakfast was a get-to-know-each-other before I pulled the trigger.
Like everyone else, the last two years have had multiple disruptions in my personal and professional life. Fortunately, both seem to be back on track. However, neither is thriving at the level I would prefer.
I NEED HELP!
I joke in my ownership message about how hard those three words are to utter. Our ego rages so hard, that it’s a strain to formulate that phrase. Yet, it’s inherent in each of us to be deficient in ways that only someone else can assist with.
With the Hawks Agency team expanding, I feel more responsibility to operate at my best, daily. Sarah, Monica, and John are first-class humans I want to serve well. Offering intermittent discipline seems disrespectful. I’m fully aware my own willpower and good intentions don’t generate enough consistency to regain the footing I desire.
I despise inefficiency. Wasted time and wasted efforts produce missed opportunities. I certainly don’t want to contribute to my own stagnation.
GET HELP!
Have you had reoccurring thoughts about an area lacking in your life? Not insecurities, but legitimate aspects where you’re sporadically reminded you’re not getting any better? That persistent reminder is a gift from greatness. The spirit within us quietly suggests we can be more – not in a grind or hustle way – but in a deeply fulfilling way that draws us to it. We can’t get there on our own, though. Dang it!
I’ve engaged a brilliant counselor, a robust group of friends, and professional speaking colleagues these last two years to navigate life. They’ve been tremendously refreshing offering so much wisdom, fun, perspective, and peace. Yet here I am, finding more places I still need guidance to grow.
Instigating Ideas…
1. Write out your top three areas of needed growth
2. Encourage someone in your life who you see is taking steps to become better.
3. Identify someone who is where you’d like to be and reach out to them.
4. Write down three areas you’re proud of yourself for growing.
Do you know someone who has loads of potential? Do you feel like you have untapped capacities? It’s an evolving revelation, disclosed in new seasons. We don’t grasp all that we contain until a new scenario prompts something from within. That desire to aspire is another form of the gift from greatness.
HELP OTHERS!
When I was in Minneapolis, I made my way to a local arts performance of Shrek the Musical. Before it started the director said something like “we are here to bring joy into your lives.” The actors and musicians were there in service to their neighbors and community.
Who could you help this week?
I would love to hear how you invite people into your life so you continue to grow. Also, what area is the hardest for you to disclose that you need assistance in? Please Share!
